Description
These cufflinks are made of highly polished wood from the Bocote or Cordia alliodora tree of Mexico and Central America. The grain and features are captured very well. Bocote is a beautifully grained, exotic hardwood. All of this marbling, grain and striations that you see is 100% natural. The wood naturally grows like this. Also, the colors are natural and fierce. I love wearing these ones because they look great without being over the top or gaudy.
The shape is generally rectangular, sawn by a miter saw, but curved by being sanded. They are clear coated, then sanded once again for good measure and clear coated again! This way they have a deep luster to them. They were pretty labor intensive 🙂 My dad created these parts in his garage!
Bocote is also sometimes called cordia, manjack, Ecquador laurel, Ziricote, or Spanish Elm.
